Onewheel vs VESC

The Onewheel, an innovative single-wheeled electric skateboard, has established itself as a popular recreational device since its introduction. Over time, however, many users have complained about the limited repair options and lack of access to spare parts. This is where the VESC (Vedder Electronic Speed Controller) comes into play, an open-source alternative to the proprietary controller of the Onewheel.
The VESC allows users to customize and repair their Onewheels, supporting the right to repair. This movement is gaining increasing importance as more and more people want to regain control over their devices. By using VESC, Onewheel owners can not only repair their boards but also improve and adapt them to their personal needs.
In Europe, and especially in Switzerland, the spread of Onewheel and VESC has developed rapidly. There is a growing community of enthusiasts who modify and customize their boards. This development is supported by the increasing availability of VESC components and the support of local DIY groups and online communities.
